Spokesmodel Samantha

Samantha is a student at Shelbyville High School. She enjoys Student Council, and participates in Best Buddies. She also loves listening to music and volunteering at different hospitals. For the fashion haul, Samantha went to Charlotte Russe, Body Central, and Payless because of their cute and modern styles at reasonable prices. She chose this outfit because she thought it was really girly and classy, but it also stood out and made a loud statement. The black and white floral dress was purchased at Charlotte Russe for $29.50. The floral design was really big, and this makes any dress or top look more professional. She bought the shoes at Payless for only $12.00. Payless always has such cute for outstanding prices. Also, all the jewelry at Body Central was purchased for $3.90 a piece. Body Central is always a fabulous place for jewelry; it’s always less $4! Samantha chose a black and white dress but spiced it up with the bold red jewelry. Her dress is also strapless which makes her top half kind of empty; therefore, she paired it with a big black necklace which is always a must-have combination! Samantha said, “The fashion haul was so much fun! Ken made me feel so comfortable, and he made me laugh the whole time.  He really knew how to keep it energetic throughout the entire fashion haul.”

Spokesmodel Kelsie

Kelsie Bates a student at Ben Davis High School.  As a hobby, she really enjoys to dance. Kelsie chose to shop at Target for the fashion haul because of their good prices and cute variety of clothes! Target is an easy place to shop because they’re everywhere and have good quality clothes for cheaper prices. She bought a black dress with a very strong floral pattern with spaghetti straps for only $21.99. The design on the dress had bright colors and gorgeous detail that made it really pretty. Our makeup artist put a lipstick on Kelsie that matches with the flowers on the dress. This really draws attention to Kelsie’s beautiful smile. After the dress, she matched it with a cute belt for only $19.99. Outfits like this can really look good in anyone’s senior pictures. They always make certain things stand out like your eyes or your hair. A belt is an easy accessory that can always make a cute outfit stand out even more! Kelsie said she has a certain style of fashionably simple. She doesn’t like having a ton of accessories or too much of anything. She likes for one thing to have the main focus. Kelsie said that shopping with only $50 was a challenging but fun experience! She also said she would love to do it again.

Spokemodel Courtney

Courtney also attends Shelbyville High School. She enjoys participating in the Academics team at her high school, and she also loves music and singing. Courtney chose to shop at Kohl’s for the fashion haul because of the summer style, cheap prices, and great colors. Kohl’s is always the place to go if want to find great sales! The outfit she decided to purchase really stood out to her because of the bright colors, floral patterns, and fun style. She also liked the way the colors and design looked with her gorgeous red hair. Courtney picked the outfit and paired it with a gold necklace and matched it with gold earrings. The earrings had a pink detail in the them that made her eyes look incredible! After that, she added black leather jacket that goes great on top of every outfit! That’s something to remember when you’re shopping for your senior pictures. The floral tank top Courtney chose cost her $14.99. The top was a simple shade of tan but had a floral design with great colors and really stood out. The shorts were only $14.99 as well and tied the whole outfit together.  Courtney found a sale and bought the shoes for the same price as the tank top and shorts. Courtney said, “I really liked it and has so much fun.”

Spokesmodel Gabrielle

Gabrielle Lewis is a student at North Central High School. She loves dancing, peer mentoring and having fun. Gabrielle purchased her outfit at Forever 21 because it’s a super trendy store with such a very wide variety of styles. She loves to look for modern clothes with a retro feel which lead her to the clothes that she bought for the fashion haul. “I love mixing the look of today with looks from years ago.” She bought a tube top with bold colors and a fun design to make the outfit stand out and it only cost her $21.80. The shorts tied in the whole outfit and cost her $18.00. Her earrings were less than $4.00 and really added to the rest of the outfit. They make her eyes really pop and compliment the dark color of her hair! Gabrielle found some old shoes that she already had and worked them in perfectly! When you’re shopping you should always think if you have something in your closet like a belt or shoes that would match. This really helps save money and usually makes the outfit look even better. We asked her how the experience was and she said, “I loved the fashion haul photo shoot! It was so much fun to shoot in all of the unique places.”

Spokesmodel Sumer

Sumer Means is a cheerleader and gymnast at Franklin Central High School. She decided to go shopping at the fashionable and newer store Body Central for the fashion haul. It has a ton of trendy clothes for great prices! You can always keep this in mind while shopping for senior pictures. Sumer chose this specific outfit because she says it represents her style which is making simplicity stand out. This isn’t always easy but Sumer seems to be pretty good! The jean jumper was very simple but had just enough colored detail at the top which made it just interesting enough and it only cost her$22.80. The shoes were $19.26 and looked perfect with the jumper and bracelets. Brown heels can basically match anything so they’re easy to wear with any outfit! That’s definitely something to have for senior picture. Body Central has an amazing deal on jewelry every day; it’s always under $4. Sumer only paid $3.90 for the bangles. These are a great accessory and are gold so they can match any shade of blue and look great with the jumper. Sumer said the shopping for under $50 experience was a lot of fun and she’d love to have another fashion haul experience!

Spokesmodel Allison

Allison chose a second outfit and bought this one at both Pac Sun and Forever 21. Pac Sun sometimes has slightly less affordable prices but has a better quality than most. They also carry a lot of bright bohemian clothes that are really fashionable and cute. Allison felt that the dress was a really fun color and had a crazy pattern! That’s the kind of style Allison always shops for. Along with the first outfit, she found the shoes in her own home. They’re her favorite pair of Vans and never takes them off! Finding something for an outfit in your home is a great way to save money. While shopping for senior pictures, you should think about what you already have and then just buy what you need! You may have something even better in your very own closet. Allison paid $35.00 for the pink and white dress, and added a fun stylish hat for $10.00. The necklace was on sale for only $5.00 as well. Both the hat and necklace has feathers which are so in style right now! Allison said, “The experience was so exciting! The process was very energetic which helped set the mood for pictures and way more fun than I had expected. I was also impressed with the organization of the fashion haul.”

May Cover Model Kailyn

The May cover model of Senior Mode, Kailyn, dedicates herself to staying healthy and it shows! She has been participating in sports for her entire life and makes staying healthy her first priority.

Kailyn always eats healthy foods, exercises frequently, and gets plenty of rest; this makes her feel and look great! A balanced diet of fruit, vegetables and proteins adds muscles tone, vital nutrients the body needs and natural sugars the body can easily absorb and utilize.

A regular exercise routine 3 days a week for an hour each time will burn body fat, boost your metabolism, make you feel energized and reduce stress. Weight bearing exercises such as yoga and free weights help build bone mass and lean muscle. Any form of exercise is great for the body, mind and spirit! Rest is also a vital tool when staying healthy and most teenagers and young adults require 6-8 hours each night. This gives your body time to revitalize and restore itself back to a neutral state.

Over the years, Kailyn has participated in many sports including track, cheerleading, gymnastics,  diving, and dancing. Kailyn says that by staying healthy and fit, she can pick and choose the sports that she really loves and knows she can excel at them.

Although Kailyn enjoys working out, she doesn’t like getting up early to do it, “Morning workouts are never fun for anyone, but it does pay off in the end.” A morning work out eventually becomes part of your daily routine and really sets the tone for your day.

The five things that Kailyn said she could never live without are her family, her Xperia Droid, Starbucks Passion Tea (Iced or Hot), Mac Book Pro, and her hot pink fuzzy socks.

Kailyn will be attending Indiana Wesleyan University in the fall. She will be majoring in Nursing, but will also be minoring in Addictions Counseling. On top of being a cover model and attending Indiana Wesleyan, Kailyn will also be cheerleading at collegiate level. What else could Kailyn ask for and yet another way towards staying healthy!

2011 Senior Kailyn

Many senior photographers need senior models to represent their studios in their high schools.  The senior models are usually  juniors going into their senior year who are outgoing, involved with school or after school activities, and have a lot of friends. The cool thing is that you don’t have to be a 6 foot, 110 pound, runway model to qualify. Most studios want a variety of different looks, personalities, and body types for senior models.

Around the country, studios start their senior models program at different times. In the Midwest, they usually begin around December or January of your junior year. Studios may call their models by different names, including “reps,” “ambassadors,” or “crew members.” To find out about these programs, just call studios in your area and, if they have a senior models program, ask when you need to apply.

Although each studio may have a different twist to their program, many use the same basic format. The studio has the senior models come in for a mini-session, taking photos that the studio can use for advertising. The model will be photographed wearing trendy outfits, using the studio’s most contemporary backgrounds. The images are then used in advertising pieces, promo cards, websites, Facebook, and even mall displays. Models are generally required to sign a standard model release, with additional provisions that, for the remainder of their junior and senior years, they can’t model for any other studio. Benefits to the senior models may include free sessions, free photos, discounts on senior picture packages, and other incentives. More important to you, the studio tends to spend extra time with their models because they want to produce the best images they can for their advertising. This can give you some first-rate advantages. If you are looking to save a few dollars on your senior pictures and are willing to put in a little work, this might be a great opportunity for you. Depending on the programs offered by the studio, hard-working models can reap great benefits from programs like this.

If you are interested, make sure you don’t just take the first offer or the best deal. Treat this process as if you are paying full price: do your research and find a studio whose work makes you go “wow!” Don’t let the discounts make you settle for average photos; many high-end photographers offer the same type of program. Once you find a studio that you like, get with your mom or dad and let them in on what you are doing. You may even score points with your parents for helping them save money on your senior photos. Make sure your mom or dad attend any meetings with the studio and, before you sign anything, have them review any paperwork required by the studio. Help your parents do the research to make sure you are dealing with a reputable studio, because parents are generally looking for different things than seniors are. Parents need answers to questions like: Will the studio deliver what they claim? How long have they been in business? Has the studio previously photographed high school seniors? How does the studio’s program work financially? Your parents may want to talk to the parents of other kids who’ve been in the studio’s model program to see how the program worked for them; at the very least, they’ll probably want to check with parents who have had dealings with the studio you’ve chosen.

After your parents approval, have a great time being senior models for your local photographer your senior year! Now how fun is that?!

Spokesmodel Emily

Emily is a cheerleader and student at Roncalli High School. She is also part of Raelynn’s prom committee. Emily, along with others, chose to shop at Forever 21 and their sister store For Love 21 for her $50 experience. Forever 21 is a trendy clothing store and For Love 21 is dedicated to only accessories, jewelry, and shoes. She paid $13.00 for the skirt, $12.50 for the top, $7.50 for the shoes, and found all her jewelry for only $2.80 a piece. Emily said, ““I love love loved this experience! It was so much easier than I thought. Ken and Sheila are the sweetest. Thank you so much for making me feel beautiful!”

Spokesmodel Alexis

 Alexis is an active member in the band, yearbook staff, National Honor Society, and softball team at New Palestine High School. She chose to shop at Kohl’s for her shopping under $50 experience. Kohl’s always has fashionable clothes at great prices, which is perfect for shopping for senior pictures!

Even though she already owned the accessories and shoes, she managed to still find great deals on the clothing items. The shorts were $18.99, shirt $9.99, and the cotton vest was $14.40. The bright colors caught Alexis’ eye while she went shopping and gave her that great summer style everyone is loving right now!
